Yummy in my Tummy!!

Warning:  The following post was written while watching the presidential debate and may not be coherent.

We are a food-loving family, so when our salesman at Nordstroms mentioned a great little burger place not too far from our house we decided we'd check it out.  The kids were skeptical at first because their idea of a "great burger place" definitely involves golden arches.  Before we left home Abbie asked, "Where are we going?"  I said, "We're going to a hamburger restaurant."  She then said, "oh, well let's go to a Happy Meal restaurant."  With that said we all piled into the car and headed out for a fantastically hilarious and delicious outing!

Sandy's Hamburger Hut provided quite the dining experience.  We parked our car and walked into the Hut, well actually Tate and Ruby were both carried...someone forgot shoes for Tate (not me).  When we got inside the tiny restaurant Justin and I began reading the menu  while the kids ran immediately to the huge fish tank housing one GIANT goldfish.  They were fascinated and began shoving each other out of the way to ensure their position provided for the best possible view.  Abbie commented on what a cute bunny it was, Justin reminded her that it was a fish.

After deciding that there was just not enough room in that little restaurant for the wrecking crew that is the Allen family, I took the older three out to sit at the picnic tables.   Abbie loved being outside and remarked on what a beautiful place it was with beautiful lights hanging from the trees (I'm guessing she did not see the lovely Texaco station sharing the parking lot and sharing the view of the Christmas lights).  It took Bracken about two seconds to realize that the old wooden beams that had once been the constructs of a fence on either side of the parking lot would make really great balance beams, he ran to them and began practicing for his future trapeze days.  Abbie and Tate refused to be left behind.  Abbie came prepared for her own circus days wearing an old wedding dress costume that used to be her cousin Maddie's and her light-up Cinderella shoes.  Tate was the animal trainer with his monkey in tow.

Needless to say, fun was had by all.  The food actually was great and is sure to become an Allen family favorite.  Other than the major road merely yards away, Sandy's was a very family friendly place to eat...that's really all that counts for us these days.  Ruby struggled to be let free throughout the entire dinner and the older kids kept leaving to go and practice their walk across the beam (though Tate spent most of his time getting stuck on the wood) but that just meant that Justin and I had more time to actually eat our food and laugh together at our three ring circus.

After dinner we headed to Cups & Cones, an ice cream place close to our house, and got some ice cream---Ruby had her first cone (well really it was mine)!!  What a big girl!!!

What a fun outing! I think Blue Bell is the brand of ice cream that Taylor and I had everyday on our honeymoon... one year ago today... sigh...

P.S. My favorite photo is either Tate laying across the "balance beam," or Abbie's ice cream mustache.

I love your blog, Brooke! It's great to see pictures of you and your darling family so frequently. I am so glad you took this up. Abbie almost reminds me of Raggedy Ann with the 'wedding dress' that looks like a pinafore. BTW, can't wait to hear what the kids want to be for Halloween! love you, Ging

Yummy indeed. The Allen family circus looks entertaining. My favorite is Abbies attire. The dress & shoes are perfect dressups. I still have your old shoes I would play dressup in.

Looks like a fun place. We went to the Clifford Dinner at St Davids last night. We got there late and left early, which is the best way to attend such things. Mylie LOVED Clifford and screamed bloody murder when her turn was over, thus hastening our speedy exit. Are all these pictures taken with your iPhone?
